Have you ever purchased something for a great deal and you have all these ideas of what you want do with it?
When I saw it I knew instantly that it was the perfect piece. I am so excited about giving this antique buffet a slight makeover, but I just can't decide if I want to paint it, or stain it. I'm currently searching for the perfect hardware for it. What do you think?

I think it would be absolutely gorgeous! What a great find! Can't wait to see what you do to it!
It is so beautiful. I am totally for painting furniture, but for that piece I would say give it a good waxing and let the natural grain of the wood shine. Not an antique expert, but I would bet it is worth something and painting it would greatly decrease its value.
If after a time of waxing it you decide it just isn't cutting it then paint it. Enjoying the natural word isn't going to hurt anyone, but if you paint it and wish it was back in its original state that will be a ton of work to undo.
This is a really great piece, I can see why it's a tough decision!I think a good stain would bring new life to the already-there great details. If I were to paint it I would probably paint it black or white with gold hardware. Can't wait to see what you end up doing with it!
Thanks ladies for helping me make a decision. I think I am going to change the hardware and give it a good polish and see what I think about it.
I hope to narrow my hardware choices down and post them next week..
